What is the JLPT
The Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is an examination of skill and proficiency in Japanese. The JLPT is considered a qualification in many career paths, and can function as a means to measure performance reliably. More information can be found at JLPT Japanese-Language Proficiency Test.
The JLPT evaluates 5 levels of proficiency in Japanese, categorized as N1, N2, N3, N4, and N5, with N1 being the most difficult and N5 as the most elementary level. Each exam for all levels consists of a reading and listening portion.
Certification Benefits
The JLPT N1 certificate is considered a requirement medical practitioners licensed overseas who aim to practice in Japan, as well as assistant nurses. Nurses and caregivers who earned their certifications overseas must also provides JLPT certifications.
The Japanese government awards points for immigration applications who earn N1 and N2 certificates under the "Point-based Preferential Immigration Treatment System for Highly Skilled Foreign Professionals."
